Comprehensive Stool Analysis

What is it? 

A functional stool test is a comprehensive test that measures the gastrointestinal microbiome from a one to three stool samples. (Three samples are better at detecting parasites)

It detects certain microbes that disturb the natural microbial balance known as opportunistic bacteria (note many a time the bacteria in of themselves is not a problem but the quantity and sitribution relative to others).

These tend to contribute to ones symptoms as well as indicate immunity, inflammation, digestion and absorption. What is special about these tests as they also test for pathogens, parasitic. These also cause gastrointestinal issues. 

What is the benefit?

The test is particularly helpful for me in terms of assessing the extent of leaky gut which will help us consider whether we need rebuilding before introducing foods such as dairy. Think of it as a good indication of where your gut health is at in terms of leaky junctions, mucosal lining, acidity and more. 

It also helps us locate parasites which can be part of the cause of certain specific symptoms that just cleaning up the diet and strengthening the gut may not alleviate. 

This can also help us rule out other causes of skin conditions, autoimmunity and other symptoms by testing for infections and parasites, which could be another way of saying an overgrowth and or your bodies attempt to clean up toxicity. 

It helps us prioritise the course of action in your program.
